 For my second inspiration I chose the American psychological horror thriller, “The silence of the Lamb”. The chosen poster features a woman's eyes, nose and mouth which has been overlayed by a moth with a colorful design. Once again this poster follows the typical codes and conventions of the thriller genre, partially obstructed faces. In media, the hidden or partially visible face techniques can evoke feelings of unease, curiosity, or even fear, which are essential emotions in thriller narratives which entice audiences and increase viewership. The intricate yellow design of the moth creates a binary opposition between the stark black and white face with the bright insect. Again, the text is primarily placed at the bottom of the frame as to not distract from the image and the actress. The typography of the poster is minimal and simple.

  My third selected poster for “Breaking Bad” encapsulates all of the previously stated conventions of the thriller genre. Not only does it place Walter slightly out of frame, the poster is a yellow hu e which creates an unsettling and ere feel to the poster. Half-visible faces can create unease in the viewer, as it's unnatural and unsettling. The poster also frames the actors' face with text rather than overlaying as not to distract from the seri ous facial expression displayed. In the poster, as well as in media , a serious expression (such as a furrowed brow ) i mmediately communicates that the character is facing a n intense or dangerous situation. The usage of a male protagonist for the poster would attract a male dominated audience as they are more likely to have that sense of identity.

Statement of Intent

  Statement of intent:   For my print advertisement (posters) for my thriller TV series targeting a 16-25 year old audience, I will  be following the rules set out by the Advertising Standards Authority. The advertisements will not include content that could cause serious or widespread offense, such as depictions of graphic violence or explicit imagery . This is crucial to consider because advertisements would be projected in high trafficked public areas that are visited and observed by thousands of passersby each day .   The posters will be displayed at Bus Stops so therefore won’t be exclusively observed by an older and mature audience and may be viewed by an unintended audience (children or vulnerable individuals).    However, although the poster itself will not directly demonstrate graphic or disturbing illustrations, the posters will hint towards a more violent tone through the use of bold pops or red . Within my posters I intend on ...
