Poster Analysis 1
I've decided to seek inspiration partially from Netflix’s “YOU” poster. The selected poster features the villain protagonist, Joe, addressing the audience with an intense, cold stare (direct mode of address.) His face is partially obscured by a female character. The female characters face is even more obscured, concealing her identity heightening a sense of enigma. It is a typical convention of the thriller genre, particular in the Psychological thriller posters, to have the cover stars face being concealed in some way, in the form of motion blur, special effects or objects. The poster has an eery warm yellow hue which illuminates Joe’s smug facial expression. A common convention of Thriller posters is often the use of dark, moody lighting to evoke a sense of danger or mystery in the viewer. Shadows and contrasts help build suspense and tension. The font used for the title is clean modern and minimalistic. The placement of the text at the bottom ensures that the actors faces dominate the poster.
